Junior School

 

Each class in the Junior School operates as a single year group. There is a close planning and active social liaison between Stages, from Early Stage 1 to Stage 3.

Curriculum

  • The Junior School provides all of its students with access to a quality education, supporting high standards of endeavour, learning and achievement.
  • The Junior School curriculum is rigorously NSW Board of Studies focused. It is equally characterised by innovative and creative in-house programs, designed to support and extend the holistic learning experience of each student.
  • CVAS Junior School is a happy, progressive, Anglican community, committed to the education and support of the whole child. It is a great place for all students to learn and grow!  
  • CVAS Junior School provides each student with significant time for:

*      Learning: A strong emphasis is placed on a love of learning and the creation of a sound foundation in literacy and numeracy.

*      Problem solving: Evaluating new perspectives, tackling challenges and seeing from new angles within a CORT Thinking Program, designed to engage all children in the development of critical, creative and constructive thinking.

*      Community: Learning to support and respect one another through positive interpersonal relationships, “Circle Time” activities, House involvement, sporting events, charity fund raising and celebration days. Growing in self confidence and in the joy and fun of belonging

*      Looking outwards to the 21st century world, through innovative science programs, excellent computer facilities and interactive whiteboards.

*      Visual and Performing Arts: A discrete creative arts program, involving music, drama, dance and the visual arts. A class based music and strings program taught by a specialist teachers. Drama and music productions, involving all students in a wonderfully live experience of performance, team-work and achievement.

*      Sport: The Junior School is part of the Government’s Active After School Community Program and a member of the North Coast Sporting Association.

*      Christian Formation: Developing an awareness of the Christian story and the way Christian faith might shape our values, thoughts and actions.

  • CVAS Junior School strives to provide an excellent academic, spiritual and social foundation. Our children leave the Junior School ready to continue their adventure of learning, to competently tackle challenges and to embrace the new opportunities of Secondary School.
