Secondary School Outdoor Education

Students in the Senior School from Years 7-11 participate in a four day, three night camp which takes place at Camp Mebbin in the beautiful Tweed Valley.

The aim is to facilitate growth in individuals and groups by building healthy and dynamic human relationships using a combination of challenge, adventure, fun and reflection. Students participate in Outdoor Pursuits, learn about the natural environment in which these pursuits take place and develop their intra and inter personal skills so that they can grow as individuals.

When students reach Year 11 the aim is still to promote learning but with the focus on developing leadership skills and making strong relationships with fellow students in the Year 7 and 8.

The School also operates the Duke Of Edinburgh’s Award. This is a very popular in the School and currently we have over 25 students enrolled in the program. Students develop their camping craft and navigation skills essential for the expedition section of the Award, during School time and then put these skills to the test in a weekend camp on the Nymboida river.
