Principal's Message
Welcome to our web site! We hope it provides you with the information you are seeking and gives you some insight into the exciting educational environment we are building at CVAS.
Clarence Valley Anglican School was established in 1998 to meet the needs of the community for a high quality, low fee, Anglican School. The school has quickly developed a reputation for it's commitment to educational excellence balanced with Christian formation and Pastoral Care.
Grafton city is situated at the heart of the Clarence Valley and is only 40 minutes drive from the growing beach side communities of Yamba and Illuka.
Our enrolment in 2009 is 315 students commencing in PreKinder through to Year 12. CVAS is a vibrant school with a great spirit! We aim at all times to create an environment where every student is known and cared for as an individual. We offer a broad range of educational opportunities, encouraging each student to strive for their personal best.
I am very proud of the tradition we are creating here at CVAS. A tradition of quality in our learning, teaching and pastoral care. I would be delighted to welcome you to the school and I am confident that you will find CVAS as special a place as we do.
It gives me
great
pleasure to
inform you
of the very
strong
results
achieved by
our students
in the
recent
School
Certificate
and Higher
School
Certificate
examinations.
All
students
achieved
results they
can be proud
of and the
results
clearly
reflected
the efforts
each student
put into
preparing
for their
examinations.
In the
School
Certificate
our students
preformed
well above
the state
averages:
English:
67% of our
class
achieved a
Band 5 or
above
compared to
39% across
the state.
Mathematics:
33% of our
class
achieved a
Band 5 or
above
compared to
25% across
the state.
Science:
50% of our
class
achieved a
Band 5 or
above
compared to
32% across
the state.

39% of our

above
compared to
23% across
the state.
Geography:
50% of our
class
achieved a
Band 5 or
above
compared to
28% across
the state.
Our
Year 10
cohort have
now
developed a
very good
set of
skills from
which they
will be able
to build
their Year
11 and 12
studies
from, I have
no doubt
that they
will find
the
transition
into their
final years
of schooling
a lot easier
as a result
of what they
have
achieved.
In
the Higher
School
Certificate
our students
also
performed
well above
the state
averages –
some of the
highlights
are:
Chemistry: 40% of our class achieved a Band 5
compared to
26% across
the state.
English
Extension 1:
100% of our
class
achieved a
Band E3
compared to
58% across
the state.
General
Mathematics: 36% of our class achieved a Band 5 or above compared to 25% across
the state.
Industrial
Technology:
100% of our
class
achieved a
Band 5
compared to
23% across
the state.
Modern
History: 67%
of our class
achieved a
Band 5
compared to
32% across
the state.
Physics:
100%
of our class
achieved a
Band 5
compared to
25% across
the state.
These
results
would not
have been
possible
without a
dedicated
and
professional
group of
Teachers and
so to all of
our Year 10
and 12
teachers
thank you
for all your
hard work
over the
past twelve
months, your
personal and
often
individual
support of
our students
is greatly
appreciated
by us all.
CVAS
continues to
develop a
culture of
expectation
and success
amongst its
student
body, thus
enabling our
students to
have choices
when they
leave our
school.
Also
Dux for 2008
Lachlan
Davies
obtained an
excellent
UAI of 92.
